Eucalyptus Lemon

Eucalyptus - Lemon - Eucalyptus citriodora

This attractive, tall evergreen tree whose smooth dimpled bark is blotched with gray, cream and pink is cultivated as an ornamental. This tree is native to Australia, yet it is mainly cultivated in Brazil and China. A pale yellow essential oil results from steam distillation of the leaves and twigs; the oil has a strong citronella-like odor with a hint of balsamic.

With its 80-95 percent content of the constituent Citronellal, this oil makes a natural, nontoxic insect repellant. Eucalyptus-Lemon is helpful with fevers, colds, infectious skin conditions, sore throat and fungal infections. This essential oil is also used as a fragrance in soaps, detergents and perfumes.

I personally like its insect repellant properties. Here is a recipe I like to create for humans and animals:

  • In 8 ounces of water add
  • 10 drops of Eucalyptus-lemon
  • 15 drops of Lavender
  • 10 drops of Lemongrass
  • Shake well and spray lightly on the area of concern.

Raven

Through my readings and studies with traditional healers, I have learned that ceremony is an important part of their everyday life. Ceremonies are held for health, love, peace, death, birth -- the list is endless. In our busy lives, we often neglect ceremony, but I have found much peace in my own ceremony practice. During my horse Pete’s transition to the next life, we created a ceremony for him. This ceremony was an amazing experience for all involved and for Pete; he was at such serenity in his final moment. After this experience, I decided it would be nice to help others learn how to create a ceremony for their animals in any situation, from the birth of puppies, to an adoption, a rescue or in their passing.

Our cat Raven left us suddenly after only being with us for six years and it was through his ceremony that we were able to find some peace with his loss. I have had some friends lose their beloved animals recently and they were able to use the knowledge from our course “Creating a Ceremony for Animals” to help them with their process.

In this class, you will learn how to use plants and essential oils as a blessing and healing practice for your animals. We will cover the art of ceremony, how to perform plant brushings, create healing herbal baths, and use sacred oils and plants. These techniques can be used with your animals as a blessing, for a celebration, during an illness, in health, and in their passing.

This class is designed to teach you how to use plants and essential oils as a blessing and healing practice for your animals. You will learn the art of ceremony, plant brushings, healing herbal baths, sacred oils and plants. These techniques can be used with your animals as a blessing, for a celebration, during an illness, in health, and in their passing. At the end of the class we will perform a ceremony for you and your animals.

  • Intro to Applied Kinesiology for deciding the correct oils for animals
  • Dosage, application
  • How to present the oils to animals - you learn how to understand what the animal wants

Working with Animals and Essential Oils - Two Day Workshop (Animal Aromatics)
(11 CE Hours Supportive for CVT's)
October 3rd-4th, Saturday and Sunday 10:00 – 4:00 pm

This workshop will advance your knowledge of working with plants, essential oils and animals. We will present a more in-depth look at working with the basic principles of the art and science of essential oils and how to work with animals using essential oils. In this class you will learn:

  • Methods of application: inhalation and topical
  • Chemistry of essential oils and safety – how to work with this knowledge
  • Learn 11 meridians used in Applied Kinesiology for deciding the correct oils for animals/li>
  • Dosage, application – will have hands-on practice
  • How to present the oils to animals – you will learn how to understand what the animal wants
  • Will be paired up and work on your own animal from start to finish and share what you learned with the class
  • Working with other animal care givers and their veterinarians
  • You will leave with a good knowledge of how to work with animals
