Roman Chamomile

Roman Chamomile - Chamaemelum nobile

This beautiful fragrant plant grows up to ten inches high; it has feathery leaves and daisy-like white flowers. Native to southern and western Europe and naturalized in the United States. Roman chamomile is mainly cultivated in England, Belgium, the United States, Italy and France.

The plant’s leaves and flowers make a delicious tea which is commonly used for extreme nervous system disorders, stomachaches and other digestive upsets. Roman chamomile is a wonderful herb for infants and children in coping with colic and digestive disorders. I especially enjoy adding this plant to my bath water for its calming effects.

The essential oil is steam-distilled from the flowering tops. It too has a calming effect on the nervous system, helping to relieve headaches, insomnia, nervous tension and stress-related complaints. This beautiful essential oil also aids with indigestion, nausea, eczema, dermatitis and inflammation

So next time you need to relax, make yourself a cup of chamomile tea, add some Roman chamomile essential oil to your aromatherapy diffuser, sit back and enjoy the peace.

Jake's Canine Remedy

Jake’s Canine Remedy:

This unique, all-natural product, comprised of high-quality essential oils was made in honor of the memory of our dog Jake.

Jake was a beautiful golden retriever who suffered from hot spots. At the young age of 16 he had a severe hot spot and was given a steroid shot to relieve the problem. This injection proved to be too much for his system to handle, and he developed kidney failure. After saying good-bye to Jake, my husband turned to me with tears in his eyes and said I needed to make a remedy for dogs so they would not have to resort to this type of treatment. And, that was when Jake’s Canine Remedy was born.

Dubbed “the miracle spray” by many of my customers, this remedy was designed as an all-natural, noninvasive alternative treatment for dogs who suffer from hot spots. It has proven to be highly effective and has since treated many dogs with a range of skin problems, including itchy skin, bald spots, dermatitis, fungus, tick and flea bites, small abrasions and so much more. Jake’s Canine Remedy has made dogs and their owners happy by providing a gentle-but-effective alternative to harsher, invasive traditional treatments.

Kaeru Studio is an intimate, early 1900s building nestled between Roxborough State Park and Sharp Tail Ridge Open Space. This quiet location has rooms available for anyone interested in renting space to practice massage, acupuncture, yoga, and other healing arts or for evening and weekend workshops. Have you ever wondered what essential oils really are and how they can enrich your life? Have you ever wondered what to do with the herbs in your garden? Come and learn the art and science of essential oils and plants. In this class you will be introduced to some essential oils and plants, methods of application, medicinal and therapeutic properties, and chemistry. You will use this new knowledge to make a personal product to take home.

Gain a deeper knowledge of essential oils and plants, their uses and how to incorporate them into your life.

Let’s Make Lotions and Potions: Using Essential Oils and Plants
May 19th, Tuesday 6:00 - 9:00 pm

In this class you will have the opportunity to make enriching hand creams, lip balms, room sprays, bath salts and more. You will gain some knowledge of essential oils and plants. Learn about surfactants and how to give your products a longer shelf life. Discover the beauty of creating blends with essential oils by considering their top, middle and base notes. This fun class teaches you blending skills and gives you ideas to create new products for yourself and your friends. Some knowledge of essential oils prior to class is helpful.

Creating a Ceremony for Animals
February 26, Thursday 6:00 – 9:00pm(same time for all dates)

This class is designed to teach you how to use plants and essential oils as a blessing and healing practice for your animals. You will learn the art of ceremony, how to perform plant brushings, how to create healing herbal baths, and the use of sacred oils and plants. These techniques can be used with your animals as a blessing, for a celebration, during an illness, in health, and in their passing. At the end of the class we will perform a ceremony for you and your animals.

Celebrate the Summer Solstice and an early Summer Harvest
June 21st, Saturday 10:00 – 4:00 pm

Join us on this first day of summer to gather some herbal healing wisdom for you and your family. We’ll make fresh plant medicines including teas, fresh honey extracts, and vinegar and brandy tinctures using fresh herbs from the garden. We will join in a circle to honor the traditions that deepen our connection with nature. We will make a prayer stick as a meditative tool and a way to show our appreciation to mother nature and the sun.

In this class we will discuss the plants and essential oils that are helpful for conditions such as: insomnia, over thinking, anxiety, stress, exhaustion, toothaches, stomach aches and more. We will discuss how to make your own teas, tinctures and essential oil blends to help with these conditions. We will also practice making teas, tinctures and an essential oil blend for you to take home.
